Chairman and Founder

Daniel S. Bennett, MD, DABPM is an interventional spine/pain medicine physician from Denver, CO. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of The National Pain Foundation. He has served on the Board of Directors of the North American Neuromodulation Society and is actively involved with the American Academy of Pain Medicine. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami with honors, and completed post-doctoral training in anesthesiology/pain medicine at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO.

He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and lectures nationally and internationally on pain medicine, in particular on interventional diagnostic/therapeutic techniques, pharmacological interventions, and neuromodulation for control of neuropathic and complex pain syndromes.

Dr. Bennett has been active in clinical research involving electrical neuromodulation of spinal and peripheral nerve structures, and spinal drug delivery systems as applied to chronic pain syndromes. He is also actively practicing interventional diagnostics and therapeutics for both acute and chronic conditions of the spine.

Key Interests: Complex Regional Pain Syndromes (CRPS), Failed Back Surgical Syndrome, peripheral nerve injury/neuropathy, interstitial cystitis, and cervicogenic headache.

James E Hagen, MSc, is a clinical neurophysiologist and co-founder of the Global Pain Initiative.

Jim is a native of Washington State, but spent his formative years in Springfield, Ohio. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, he moved to Seattle where he received a master’s in physiology from the University of Washington.
Jim spent fifteen years at the Veteran’s Administration in Seattle, researching in pulmonary and exercise physiology. He relocated to the Denver area in 1990, where after a brief journey in industry, settled into clinical neurophysiology.

Jim focused his career in electrical neuromodulation as it applies to spinal cord, nerve rootlet, and peripheral nerves for the control of complex pain. He is globally recognized for his programming expertise of neuromodulation devices, having taught and lectured extensively on this topic around the globe.

Cindy Rader is a senior healthcare executive and entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in the medical, legal and insurance industries. Ms. Rader has repeated successes starting up, growing and turning around medical group practices within and independent of hospital organizations and healthcare systems. Her passion is to bring awareness and to transform the way pain is fundamentally understood, assessed and treated across chronic disease states.

Dr. Arbuck is certified by the American Academy of Pain Management in addition to the board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He practices Psychiatry and Pain Medicine as dual specialties, helping patients with the most complicated conditions that may have become resistant to treatment.

Dr. Arbuck received his medical degree from Yaroslavl State Medical School in Russia in June of 1982. He went on to do his pediatrics internship at Yaroslavl State Medical School. His Psychiatry Residency was done at both Yaroslavl State Medical School and IU Medical School in Indianapolis. He further went on to a mini fellowship in ECT at Duke University in Durham, NC.

Dr. Arbuck serves on several boards and belongs to various professional societies. In addition to receiving the coveted “Top Doctor” award, Dr. Arbuck has received many other honors and accolades. Dr. Arbuck has been widely published and was asked to participate in studies for AstraZeneca and Pfizer. He also is a member of various public and community service organizations.

Dr. Arbuck combines Psychiatry and Pain Management specialties in everything he does clinically, thus allowing him to expend his scope of practice and achieve what otherwise would be impossible. It is his belief that a natural fusion of Psychiatry and Medicine allows for better treatment results, broader expertise and a unique positioning on a healthcare market.

Dr. Joseph Pergolizzi has held various positions at prestigious academic medical institutions. He has served as a committee member of the Food and Drug Administration’s Safe Use Initiative and a Special Government Employee for the Veterans Health Administration.

Dr. Pergolizzi is the author of over 150 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, platform presentations, and book chapters in his areas of interest and expertise. He is an internationally recognized expert in clinical research, pain medicine, anesthesia, internal medicine, pharmacology, regulatory affairs, and drug discovery. He has been awarded the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award with Commendation and is a member of the Who’s Who for International Executives. He has served as a member of advisory boards and medical/scientific societies and has acted on a number of institutional committees including the Medical Errors Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Dr. Pergolizzi is recognized by his peers as a scientific and medical expert who integrates new products, techniques, and technologies into everyday clinical practice.
